“Our vision for the next 10 years is to grow the corridor right across the Cape Flats to the Stellenbosch Mountains.” Prof. Anton Pauw
Our vision is to link the Table Mountain National Park with the Boland Mountains via a series of indigenous pollinator gardens, restoring the migration routes of nectar-feeding birds across the densely urbanized Cape Flats in Cape Town, South Africa. We aim to achieve this by planting indigenous gardens of carefully selected nectar-rich species at strategically located schools and community centres, which provide ‘filling stations’ for birds and outdoor learning spaces for students and the surrounding communities. This ecological corridor will also link the isolated patches of critically endangered lowland vegetation that remain on the Cape Flats, and reconnect them to the surrounding mountain ranges.
